All visitors who come to Burano are fascinated by its many colors and colorful houses that are reflected in the green waters of the lagoon. At one time they served as a signal for fishermen who could recognize their island from afar after long days at sea.

Burano is also famous for its lace making and still today in the streets you can see old ladies thread authentic Burano lace by hand with their “tombolo” (a drum like cushion used for lace making)

The island is also well known for its excellent restaurants where you can taste the specialties of fresh fish, typical of the area. Do not miss to taste the delicious “risotto di gò” (characteristic fish of the Venetian lagoon) and do not miss the typical sweets of Burano, the “Bussolà” or the “Esse” also known as the “Biscotti Buranelli”. Finally, for those who wish to continue the trip, it is possible to make a further stop in Torcello, famous for being the first settlement of the Veneti in the lagoon to escape the barbarian invasions.
